What is Medicare Part C?

Medicare Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage, is an alternative way to receive your Medicare benefits. It is offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare.

Medicare Part C combines the coverage provided by Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance), and often includes additional benefits beyond Original Medicare, such as prescription drug coverage (Part D), dental, vision, and wellness programs.

Anyone who is eligible for Medicare can choose to decide to enroll in Medicare Part C / Medicare Advantage.

Why is Medicare Part C important for healthcare?

Medicare Part C provides lower initial costs, broader coverage with a cap on out-of-pocket expenses, and added convenience. Yet, it may limit provider and hospital choices to those within the plan’s network (HMO or PPO) and restrict coverage based on geographic location.
